How to mount a periapical or bitewing series

← Back to Quick Guide

  1. A 2D radiograph study (intraoral, panoramic, cephalogram) opens in its own radiograph section: one image in the pane and the mounting frame above it. CBCT opens in the 3D section and MRI in the slice section as before.
  2. Choose the frame — FMX (18), Check-up (4 BW + 3 anterior), 4 vertical bitewings or 4 horizontal bitewings. The slots carry the frame's own numbers.
  3. Drag each image from the tray into its slot. If the series was exposed in the frame's order, click Fill in order and correct any slot by dragging; dropping onto an occupied slot swaps the two images. Hover a slot for rotate, flip and remove; these change the thumbnail in the frame only.
  4. Auto mount places the tray's images by the teeth each file names (the sensor software writes them into the file — Carestream does for every exposure). An image whose file names no teeth stays in the tray for you to drag; nothing is placed by reading the picture itself. Check the result as you would a hand-mounted series.
  5. Click a mounted image to read it in the pane with the usual measuring and enhancement tools. The mount is saved with the study and is there for everyone who opens it.
