How to fit an intraoral scan (STL) to the CBCT

← Back to Quick Guide

  1. Open the CBCT in the viewer, open the 3D panel and, under Surface overlay, load the .stl or .ply file. Check the unit factor it shows.
  2. Use the move and rotate sliders to put the scan roughly on the teeth — within a few millimetres is enough.
  3. Turn on the VOI box and size it around the arch, so the fit only sees the teeth.
  4. Under Fit to surface, choose teeth and click Fit. Read the result: the residual (mm), the share of the model within 0.5 mm, and how far it moved. Green is a good fit; amber means move it closer or narrow the box and fit again.
  5. Click Keep this fit to accept it, or Discard to put the model back. The fit is kept only when you accept it, and no measurement reads the model.
